Video Script:

This is Barbara.  She chose to heal after losing her brother to an overdose, then two months later, her sister to an in-home accident. You can imagine Barbara feels beaten down and finds it hard to climb out of her grief, ad find hope to believe that her life will get better.

My name is Barbara J Hopkinson of A Butterfly’s Journey To a New Normal.  We help individuals and families struggling with grief to find a new normal after experiencing loss of a sibling or other traumatic loss.

The fact that you are experiencing something that you never thought would happen is exactly why it is normal to feel like Barbara is feeling and this is why we suggest journaling to help you heal.

When you journal after the loss of a loved one you are able to take a self guided journey through a process that you control and it is personal and confidential. You are going to find it is not only therapeutic for you but it will document your transformation to a new normal as you start to heal.

We suggest picking 1 time a day to write and if you find it helpful then start writing more.

Some suggestions on what to journal about would be

  • Your favorite memories of your loved one or letters to your loved one
  • Your questions about this person’s death
  • Your frustrations, anger or guilt related to your  situation

Journaling can be a powerful tool.  It was for Barbara as she choose to heal.
