As a bereaved stepparent, we are often one of the forgotten mourners as many feel that our grief was not as difficult because they were not our biological child and discount our grief. For most of us, we love our stepchild as our own and mourn their death greatly. These were children “born in our heart” and we love and grieve for them too. Together, we remember our stepchildren for the love, joy and memories held for them.
